Help & FAQs

The short answer is no. In general, you can buy a handgun out of state, based on federal law. But, to be legal, you can’t take possession of it there. Instead, the seller must deliver it to a federally licensed gun dealer (FFL) in your home state. So any handgun purchase from us needs to be transferred to an FFL holder in your home state to complete the transaction and transfer. Most FFLs charge a small fee for the transfer.

Yes, with a valid NJ Firearm Identification card. Non-FID card holders can have the firearms transferred through the FFL of their choice in their home state.

Yes, M&E will take possession of any firearms/ammunition from the public for either credit towards a new purchase or cash. You will be given an estimate of the value before you surrender the firearm. Ammunition will be accepted for the purpose of disposal only. No Credit will be given for ammunition.

Please call or email us and we will make an appointment that is convenient for you and us.

No. After you place an order on our website we will contact you via your membership information to make an appointment. You will fill out the 4473 required by state and federal law and we will do a background check through NICS. There is a current wait of a few weeks before anyone is cleared. We will order and receive your firearms while we wait for the background check to clear through NICS and once we get confirmation, we will call you to pick up your firearm.

We at M&E Firearms want your purchase to go as smoothly as possible. We work closely with other FFLs to keep the costs of transfers down to save you the maximum amount of money. If we dont already know an FFL in your home state, we will help you find one at no extra cost.
